Stuart Cohen is a graduate of Yale and trained in photography at the New England School of Photography in Boston. His commercial photography career from 1972 to the early 2000’s covered a wide variety of assignments, primarily on location domestically and overseas. He was active in stock photography during its heyday from the early 1980’s through the late 1990’s, represented at one time or other by Stock Boston, The Stock Market and Comstock in New York City, and The Image Works in Woodstock, NY, which continues to distribute his editorial images.

During the two decades from 1978 – 1998 he specialized in photography for textbooks and educational materials that teach foreign languages to North American high school and college students. This work tookStuart Cohen him around western Europe and across Latin America, shooting pictures to assist in the teaching of Spanish, French, Italian and German. He was the leading provider of such images to the U.S. education market during the 1980’s and into the 1990’s.

Stuart has written 3 consumer books and many articles on photography for the trade press, especially on subjects concerning future trends and business ethics. In recent years, since reducing his involvement with photography, he has served as the head of a symphony orchestra, president of a synagogue, and on several non-profit boards and committees. He is the father of two grown daughters, Elizabeth and Caroline, and lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

His most recent books are Happier Tomorrow, Happier Today, Happier Right Now: 24 Proven Keys to a More Satisfying Life, and The Seventh System:The thinking Person's Guide to the Human Emotional system. Both are available on Amazon.

Paris in Black and White is the result of 35 years (1978 - 2013) and many visits to Paris. All the images were originally shot on 35mm black and white film.
